A leading manufacturer of plastic optical fiber and membrane switch assemblies, contacted Rayera to develop a custom backlight for a high end appliance, capacitive touch application. The Clad Flat Fiber light guide was selected due to it’s very thin profile, brightness, uniformity advantages to efficiently transmit enough light through the opaque glass. The Clad Flat plastic optical fiber was also designed to independently light (5) icons without any light interference from icon to icon, while using less LEDs compared to other light guide films technologies.
